Recommended for 1 CPE in Ethics at the basic level.
The program is suitable at the basic level for individuals who have routine interactions with others that could potentially lead to contentious conversations. OK Ethics makes no guarantees as it is up to the individual practitioner to determine relevance to their specific area of practice.
About the Program:
We will discuss Corporate Ethical Theory to provide a common grounding and then apply that theory to the Covid Crisis with a look at pre/Covid, in/Covid, and (hopefully) post/Covid. Ample time will be provided for thought sharing between the Attendees and Tom.
Key Takeaways:
1. As corporate entities, what Ethical Commitments do companies owe their Stakeholders?
2. How do we apply those Commitments to real life situations?
3. What specific issues have surfaced from this very difficult experience with the Covid Crisis?
About the Speaker:
Tom Tropp is the Global Chief Ethics Officer for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., reporting directly to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr. In this role, he spends much of his time traveling to Gallagher offices around the world, speaking and listening to Gallagher employees regarding the values of the company and the role of ethics in business. Over the last fourteen years, he has addressed more than 30,000 of the company’s 34,000 employees in small group settings and conference events. He also gives presentations to industry and professional groups on the importance of an ethical culture and the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) responsibilities of corporations.
Mr. Tropp joined Gallagher in 2007 through the acquisition of Tropp & Company, Inc., a private, Chicago-based international insurance brokerage firm of which he was President and Founder. In 2003, while continuing to operate his brokerage firm, Mr. Tropp began to pursue a Master of Arts in Religious Ethics at the University of Chicago, completing that degree in 2007. He continues research into the grounding of corporate ethics in philosophical and theological traditions. He has also served as an Adjunct Lecturer in Philosophy at Lake Forest College in Illinois.
Tom serves as the liaison between Gallagher and such organizations as the United Nations Global Compact, the Ethisphere Institute, the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, and is a Board Member of the Better Business Bureau.
Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. has been named by the Ethisphere Institute to the list of the World’s Most Ethical Companies each year since 2012.
